    Individual Market – Looking Ahead to 2024

    The 2023 open enrollment period ended January 15, and if you’re like most brokers, you’re probably exhausted and ready for a break. That’s understandable – this was a record-breaking year. HHS reports that nearly 16 million people signed up for Marketplace coverage during the open enrollment period, a 13 percent increase over 2022. Actually, that report came with a few days left in the 2023 signup period, so the final numbers will likely be even higher.

    A recent article from DentistryIQ reports on a new CareQuest Institute survey that concludes, among other things, that Americans are not getting the dental care they need. The survey, according to the article, “is the largest and most comprehensive of its kind, with more than 5,000 participants and 170 questions.”

    Reminder: Low-Income Individuals Can Enroll Anytime

    Healthcare.gov recently sent an email to registered brokers to let them know that “The American Rescue Plan (ARP) created more opportunities for lower-income consumers to access Marketplace health care coverage, including a new Special Enrollment Period for consumers with income less than or equal to 150 Percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).” It’s a good reminder for agents who are looking for something to do now that the extended open enrollment period is over.
