We just wanted to check in and see how everyone’s doing. From the feedback we’ve received, it sounds like many of you have had a very successful open enrollment period. And the numbers we’ve seen from the individual and Medicare products we offer seem to confirm that.
Normally at this time, we’d be congratulating you on a job well done and offering some tips for the new year. But this isn’t a normal year. As you know, the 2022 annual open enrollment period for individual products has been extended from six weeks to two-and-a-half months, a forty percent increase! That means that you have until January 15 to get people enrolled in coverage for 2022, possibly with a premium tax credit. We hope you’re using your time well and not taking your foot off the gas just yet.
Speaking of extra time, we’d like to remind you that you also have some extra time to help clients find a new Medicare Advantage plan. The Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period, which runs from January 1 to March 31, allows people who are already enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan to switch to another plan if they choose. It’s not as flexible as the Medicare AEP, but there are still millions of Americans you can assist over the next three months, so please take advantage of the opportunity.
And, if you still have some time to spare, the first part of the year is a great time to circle back with clients and prospects to set them up with ancillary products you were too busy to discuss during the AEP and OEP. Make sure they have the dental coverage they need for the new year, enough life and disability insurance, and some of the policies like accident and critical illness that can help subsidize the health insurance you just sold them.
Long story short, there’s plenty to do still. While it may be tempting to take a break—and yes, we know you’ve worked hard and deserve a break—agents who can hang on a little longer will be glad they did. You could see your sales numbers go from good to great. Please let us know how we can help you reach your goals.
